I want to keep this one short and sweet. If you liked Jenji Kohan‘s smart comedy-drama writing and approach (Weeds) and you have Netflix, you should be watching Orange is the New Black. The Netflix-exclusive revolves around a woman, Piper Chapman, who becomes the newbie in a woman’s prison. The character development is exceptional, and engages the viewer to want to come back every episode to learn about each inmate.
It has already been picked up for a second season, and if you’re like me you can catch up on all 13 episodes of the first season on Netflix Watch Instantly and then wait a whole year to watch the next season (I’m looking at you, Downton Abbey). After the disappointing debut of Hemlock Grove, I wasn’t sure if Netflix had the ability to make worthwhile exclusive series, but now I know they can. Thanks, Jenji!
